Job Summary

The M&E Officer will be responsible for the monitoring and ensuring high quality and timely inputs, for ensuring that the project maintains its strategic vision, and that its activities result in the achievement of its intended outputs in a cost effective and timely manner. He/she will be responsible for designing and implementing M&E activities of the program and assisting the Team Lead in preparing Quarterly/Annual progress reports.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection, and evaluation procedures
  • Monitor all project activities and progress towards achieving the project outputs and results
  • Monitor the sustainability of the project’s results
  • Suggest strategies to the Team Leader for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks
  • Guide staff and implementing partners in preparing progress reports.
  • Collaborate with staff and implementing partners on qualitative monitoring to provide relevant information for ongoing evaluation of project activities, foster participatory planning and monitoring by training and involving primary stakeholder groups in the M&E of activities,
  • Ensure that, in general, program monitoring arrangements comply with Fleming Fund requirements.
  • Organize and provide refresher training in M&E for programs and implementing partner staff and primary stakeholders
  • Plan for regular opportunities to identify lessons learned and implications for the program’s next steps.
  • Prepare scheduled reports on M&E findings and progress of activities as required, working closely with data manager, technical staff and implementing partners.
  • Undertake planned visits to the field to support implementation of M&E and to identify where adaptations might be needed.
  • Guide the regular sharing of the outputs of M&E findings with project staff, implementing partners and primary stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with AMRNCC Coordinator, provide the PHIM Director with relevant management information that may be required.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Biostatistics
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and production of reports
  • Experience of working in the health sector
  • Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software
  • Strong training & facilitation skills.
  • Understanding, knowledge and experience of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is an added advantage
