Job Summary 

This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing antimicrobial stewardship activities as defined within the project scope and ensuring that AMS work in Malawi is strengthened, in collaboration with UNC and MOH

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Leading, promoting and supporting antimicrobial stewardship efforts in healthcare facilities.
  • Assisting with planning and coordination of the AMS Pfizer and Fleming Fund grants.
  • Coordinating updates to antibiotic stewardship data at the national level, managing budgets to activity level, collect and analyze data, create progress reports, and publish findings from assigned projects.
  • Providing technical support to facilities towards reporting antimicrobial use (AMU) data, including assistance in validating data.
  • Monitoring, collecting, and analyzing AMU data reported by the facilities, national level
  • Preparing and delivering presentations on AMS to local, and national partners; training the healthcare facilities on the same.
  • Performing programmatic project management review activities related to antimicrobial stewardship projects to assure adherence to activity goals and timelines.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Health professional (MBBS, MB.Ch.B, or Pharmacist) with four years post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work with teams.
  • Experience in implementing antimicrobial stewardship programs.
  • Experience in reviewing medical records/ reviewing the appropriateness of antimicrobials.
  • Experience in managing a team.
