Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)

Duration: 1 to 3 months

The Fellowships Programme is a core activity of UICC with a 50-year long history and currently administers five international fellowships. It plays a major role in UICC’s mission and vision to build capacity and contribute to the professional development of cancer investigators, clinicians, nurses, cancer society staff, and volunteers, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries.

  • International Cancer Technology Transfer Fellowship (ICRETT)
    • Fellowship focusing on rapid transfer of cancer knowledge and clinical technology
    • Duration: 1-month
    • Amount: average $3,400 (least expensive international travel and living costs)
    • Application Deadline: Applications accepted at any time
  • Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial International Cancer Study Grants (YY)
    • Research plans concerning basic, translational or applied cancer research are accepted from PhD’s. Prevention-oriented projects are especially encouraged.
    • Duration: 3 months
    • Amount: 15 grants are awarded of $10,000 each
    • Application Deadline: 15 January and 15 July
  • UICC Workshop
    • Supports training workshops that lead to capacity building in low- and middle-income countries. Preference is given to projects focusing on cancer policy, cervical cancer, palliative care, paediatric oncology and registry development.
    • Duration: No limits on duration
    • Amount: $30,000 per award
    • Application Deadline: yearly on 1 March
