About
Maria is a certified oncology nurse and has worked as a lead research nurse in collaboration with Kamuzu Central Hospital and participated in many multi-center trials, pilot clinical studies, prospective observational non-interventional studies amongst the most common cancers in Malawi such as hematological, breast, esophageal, Kaposi Sarcoma. She supervises and coordinates oncology nursing activities at UNC Project Malawi and mentors fellow nurses working with cancer patients, and imparts knowledge used to improve the quality of life of our clients. Maria has a passion to reduce suffering while improving the quality of life and restoring the dignity of patients with cancer by providing holistic care and is currently pursing BSc in Palliative Care with Makerere University.
