Senior Research Clinician

About

Edwards is a Senior Research Clinician and Coordinator at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Project-Malawi, Cancer Program. He is a key clinical team leader in UNC Project’s portfolio of NIH-funded cancer clinical research activities, including clinical trials sponsored by the NCI AIDS Malignancy Consortium. Prior to joining the cancer program, Edwards worked on the UNC Project’s Aids Clinical Trial Group as a research clinician, initially involved in patient care for studies related to HIV clinical care associated with the AIDS clinical Trials Group at our site. The spectrum of these studies include Kaposi Sarcoma, ART treatment failure, and TB management. Edwards is also actively involved with the cancer program in the research related to Lymphoma, Kaposi Sarcoma and Breast Cancer studies and has simultaneously managed to obtain a Master’s Degree, has been the first author of three scientific manuscripts and a co-author for several other publications. He is also a local Principal Investigator (PI) on a Neutropenic Fever protocol in Malawi, the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Edwards is also a member of the American Society of Oncology Organization (ASCO).
