Katelyn J. Rittenhouse, MD, completed a one-year NIH UJMT Fogarty Fellowship in Lusaka, Zambia, working with UNC Global Women’s Health (GWH) division while receiving her MD from the UNC-Chapel Hill. She subsequently completed her OB-GYN residency training at UNC. Through this fellowship, Katelyn will continue her work with UNC GWH that she started as a medical student. She will start her fellowship based in Chapel Hill working with a multidisciplinary team to develop platforms that increase the accessibility of ultrasonography – an imaging mainstay of both obstetrics and gynecology – to resource-limited settings, like Zambia. Later, she will move to Zambia to evaluate the implementation and outcomes of these platforms. Her research interests include maternal/fetal outcomes, implementation science, artificial intelligence, and capacity building.
