Claire Karasek, MPH

Claire Karasek, MHA, will serve as the ID Fellowship coordinator this summer, assisting in the preparation of training grant renewals managed by the Institute’s Fellowship and Training Programs Office.

Claire completed her undergraduate B.S. degree in Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2009. After graduation, she performed prenatal genetic testing and was a Research Assistant in the UNC CFAR Core laboratory until chose to focus on the administrative side of healthcare. She completed her MHA at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill in 2016. During her MHA studies, she served as a TA in the Biology Department at UNC and was the Lean Transformation Intern at Chatham Hospital. Upon graduation, she worked as a Senior Operations Analyst to provide remote medical and operational support for Vigilint, a concierge medicine provider. At Vigilint, Claire was instrumental in setting up a specialist telemedicine consulting service via a partnership with the Cleveland Clinic. Claire took time out of the workforce to grow her family and upon her return, worked as a Grants Manager for Hagerty Consulting, where she focused on post-award FEMA Public Assistance Grant recovery efforts in support of North Carolina Emergency Management. Claire resides in Pittsboro, NC with her husband, daughter, two cats, a dog, and a horse. She enjoys horseback riding, gardening, and reading in her spare time.
