Nelecy has practical experience in nursing, midwifery and public health. She joined UNC Project in 2006 as research nurse and rose to become community engagement coordinator responsible for all research client recruitment, retention and management. She is also into planning of community meetings, designing of recruitment and retention materials, supervising community educators, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation of community activities.

As principal community education officer for UNC Project Malawi, she focuses on educating communities about studies conducted at the site. She has vast experience working with the community, engaging with different stakeholders including Ministry of health officials, local leaders, NGOs and advocacy groups and acting as liaison between the Community Advisory Board and site staff.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Malawi – College of Medicine, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences Education from Mzuzu University, a Diploma in Nursing and a university certificate in Midwifery from the University of Malawi – Kamuzu College of Nursing.
