Pharmacy staff dispersing study products.

The Research Pharmacy is an indispensable component of investigational new drug (IND) clinical trials at UNC Vietnam. It provides study product management and accountability, and works to preserve the integrity, stability, and effectiveness of study products. Our pharmacy team has implemented IND clinical trials since 2017, and to date has coordinated with our partners to set up three (03) research pharmacies at our research sites in Hanoi.

  • Yen Hoa Health Clinic CRS – 198 Hospital: DAIDS Pharmacy Org ID#62263
  • Hanoi Medical University CRS: DAIDS Pharmacy Org ID#63740
  • National Lung Hospital CRS: DAIDS Pharmacy Org ID#63763

The pharmacies are approved by and under the management and supervision of The Pharmaceutical Affairs Branch (PAB), a component of the Office of Clinical Site Oversight (OCSO), within the Division of AIDS (DAIDS) of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), of the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH). All three pharmacies are registered and issued with a DAIDS Pharmacy Organization ID number. They comply with both DAIDS and local regulations.

A research pharmacy must meet security criteria and be appropriately equipped to preserve the integrity, stability, and effectiveness of study products. All pharmacy equipment must be maintained and evaluated for appropriate performance, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Equipment is certified or calibrated annually, or as per manufacturer’s recommendations and in compliance with any local regulations Furthermore, each DAIDs-approved pharmacy must have qualified personnel, including a Pharmacist of Record (PoR) and associate pharmacist, who have received required pharmacy trainings of the Vietnam Ministry of Health and DAIDS.
