In the above photo, Erica Zeno takes a retinal image for an individual at Realo Pharmacy in Kinston. Erica was an epidemiology PhD student mentored by Dr. Emily Gower, an ocular epidemiologist, who applies what she learns about vision screenings in Africa to rural areas of North Carolina.
