Title: Lung ultrasound as point-of-care for diagnosis of pneumonia in children in resource poor settings
Project Objectives: To summarize current evidence on lung ultrasound for the diagnosis of pneumonia in children. To propose a standardized lung ultrasound protocol for optimal evaluation of childhood pneumonia in this and future trials. To assess the feasibility of lung ultrasound as a point-of-care diagnostic for pneumonia in children in resource-poor settings. To characterize the pneumonia misclassification rate of the current World Health Organization algorithm vis-à-vis lung ultrasound in resource-poor settings and at a first-line facility level.
