About

Dr. Painschab bridges two worlds as a clinician and researcher, treating patients with hematologic malignancies in Chapel Hill and at our partner site in Malawi, UNC Project Malawi. His primary research interest is in HIV-associated cancers, especially virally mediated cancers including multicentric Castleman disease, lymphoma, and Kaposi sarcoma. Dr. Painschab’s research and training are based at our partner site in Malawi, UNC Project Malawi, where he primarily lives. His teaching focus at UNC Project Malawi is on training domestic and international researchers to work in global oncology, with a specific focus on clinical research skills and modern data management and analysis techniques to improve data sharing and research reproducibility.
