Understanding and promoting child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing
About
Dr. Luz Reyes is an associate research professor in the Department of Health Behavior. Dr. Reyes’ research focuses on understanding and promoting mental health and wellbeing during the early life-course. The two focal areas of her current program of research are: (1) identifying how sensitive periods and environmental factors-such as exposure to violence-impact the emergence of mental health disorders, and (2) the development and evaluation of interventions to prevent violence and foster positive youth development. Dr. Reyes has also worked extensively throughout the Central America region on health sector research and intervention projects related to reproductive health and rights. She currently instructs required advanced research methods courses for doctoral students in the Department of Health Behavior.
