Title: “Validation of Ultrasound-Based Imaging for 3-Dimensional Brachytherapy Planning in the Treatment of Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer in Zambia”
Program Objectives: This is a feasibility study to introduce cost effective 3D image guidance that has the following specific aims:
Aim 1: Feasibility
Validate feasibility of ultrasound in 3D brachytherapy planning process in the management of locally advanced cervical cancer in Zambia
Aim 2: Non-inferiority compared to 3D MRI/CT based planning
Demonstrate non-inferiority of dosimetric outcomes of the target volume and organs at risk (V100, D90, D2cc bladder, rectum and sigmoid, Point A dose) of ultrasound-based techniques
Aim 3: Efficiency
Demonstrate the efficiency of ultrasound based 3D brachytherapy planning in a busy resource limited environment in the management of locally advanced cervix cancer
