About

Dr. Mungo’s research group is investigating feasible, evidence-based methods to improve secondary prevention of cervical cancer in Africa. Specifically, we work to improve access to HPV testing via self-collection and precancer treatment in these settings as part of the WHO-endorsed single-visit “screen & treat” strategy. We are also investigating the feasibility – safety, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy – of topical, self-administered antiviral therapies as primary treatment of HPV and cervical precancer treatment, or as an adjunct therapy to improve treatment outcomes in people living with HIV,  the majority of whom live in low- and middle-income countries.
