Clinical screening tool for detection of HIV-associated neuropathy in Lima, Peru

Bio: Kelby Brown Jr. is the Neuromuscular Fellow with UNC Department of Neurology. He completed medical school at Duke University, followed by Residency in Neurology at UNC  Hospital. Under the mentorship of Monica Diaz, MD, Kelby has studied HIV-associated neuropathy in a prospective cohort of persons with HIV and healthy controls in Lima, Peru. He presented his research at the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Annual Conference last year, and plans to submit his findings for publication this spring. Kelby also spent 1 month in Lima participating in research and working clinically in Hospital Cayetano Heredia, in Lima, Peru.  He is the proud father of three children, Etta, Vanessa, and Kelby III, and husband to his amazing wife, Angelita Brown. Next year, he will work as an outpatient general and neuromuscular neurologist at UNC Rex.
