Antimalarial Therapy Revisited: Pharmacodynamics, Stage-Specific Effects, and Clinical Implications

Matthew Ippolito, MD, PhD

Matthew M. Ippolito, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute. He is an infectious disease specialist, clinical pharmacologist, and physician-scientist whose research focuses on malaria in sub-Saharan Africa, integrating clinical, translational, and epidemiologic approaches.

Dr. Ippolito serves as Director of Clinical Epidemiology for the Southern Africa International Center of Excellence for Malaria Research in Zambia and directs the Clinical Pharmacology T32 Fellowship Program at Johns Hopkins. He is actively involved in mentoring and building global health research partnerships.

His work aims to translate mechanistic insight into practical strategies to reduce malaria morbidity and mortality.
