Bacterial Heteroresistance: Mechanisms and Impact

September 12 @ 9:15 am - 10:15 am
jake-choby-ighid-event

Jake Choby, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Jake received his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University, studying heme homeostasis in Staphyloccus aureus with Eric Skaar. During his postdoc with David Weiss in the Emory Antibiotic Resistance Center, Jake studied mechanisms of heteroresistance to cefiderocol, fosfomycin, and colistin. His laboratory focuses on mechanisms of cephalosporin heteroresistance in multidrug resistant Enterobacter clinical isolates, with the goal of improving antibiotic development and treatment by providing insights into antibiotic resistance, heteroresistance, and fundamental bacterial biology.
