COVID-19: A Year

Wohl is site leader of UNC’s Global Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Group at Chapel Hill. For the past year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wohl has been serving as medical director of the COVID-19 vaccination clinics at UNC Health’s Friday Center and Hillsborough as well as the Chapel Hill Respiratory Diagnostic Center (drive thru) COVID-19 testing facility. He is a vice chair of ACTIV-2, an NIAID-sponsored international trial of outpatient COVID-19 therapeutics.
His research interests have included emerging infections including HIV and viral hemorrhagic fevers such as Ebola and Lassa fever. For over 20 years he has been conducting HIV-related research including studies of complications of HIV and its therapies. Since 2014 he has been conducting research in Liberia, West Africa, investigating the clinical sequelae of Ebola and Lassa fever.
