Title: A comprehensive comparison of patient and provider perceptions of vaginal delivery (VD) vs. Cesarean section (CS) in a public and private hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Project Objectives:  

Aim 1: To solicit and analyze perceived advantages and disadvantages of VD vs. CS between obstetricians and nulliparous pregnant women.

Aim 2: Examine the association between perceived advantages/disadvantages for mode of delivery and the women’s preference for mode of delivery; examine the association between perceived advantages/ disadvantages for mode of delivery and the providers’ preference for mode of delivery.

Aim 3: Compare the stated preferences of the pregnant women to what providers’ perceive to be their preferences

Aim 4: Compare perceived advantages and disadvantages between (a) public hospital-based obstetricians and the women they serve, and (b) private hospital-based obstetricians and the women they serve.

Aim 5: Make recommendations for the design of interventions to reduce the CS rate in Argentina.
