Title: “Perceptions of Long-acting Injectable HIV PrEP Among Vietnamese Transgender Women”
Program Objectives:
When taken consistently, daily oral emtricitabine/tenofovir Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) medication for HIV can significantly reduce risks of new HIV infection. This risk reduction is particularly vital for transgender women, who bear a disproportionate burden of HIV globally. I will use qualitative methods to investigate perceived barriers and facilitators to long-acting injectable PrEP adherence and access among transgender women in Vietnam. This work will inform the development of culturally acceptable strategies for HIV prevention among vulnerable populations in Vietnam and around the world.
