Title: Parasite  density  as  a  biomarker  of  therapeutic  response  in  cutaneous  leishmaniasis (CL):  a multidisciplinary study based on volumetric and parasite load estimations

Project Objectives:  

Aim 1: To evaluate the usefulness of combined 18S/kDNA LAMP assay for CL/ML diagnosis compared to conventional methods in terms of sensitivity and specificity.

Aim 2: To standardize all procedures of the combined 18S/kDNA LAMP assay for CL/ML diagnosis in field conditions and development of SOPs for further evaluation in multiple endemic villages.

Aim 3: Train local laboratory technicians from endemic villages in obtaining, processing and interpretation of the combined 18S/kDNA LAMP assay.
