Title: Parasite density as a biomarker of therapeutic response in cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL): a multidisciplinary study based on volumetric and parasite load estimations
Project Objectives:
Aim 1: To evaluate the usefulness of combined 18S/kDNA LAMP assay for CL/ML diagnosis compared to conventional methods in terms of sensitivity and specificity.
Aim 2: To standardize all procedures of the combined 18S/kDNA LAMP assay for CL/ML diagnosis in field conditions and development of SOPs for further evaluation in multiple endemic villages.
Aim 3: Train local laboratory technicians from endemic villages in obtaining, processing and interpretation of the combined 18S/kDNA LAMP assay.
