Dr. David Weber, the Charles Addison and Elizabeth Ann Sanders Distinguished Professor of Medicine, received the Elaine Larson Distinguished Scientist Award from the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
This prestigious honor recognizes Dr. Weber’s exceptional contributions to the science and practice of infection prevention and control. The APIC is the leading professional association for infection preventionists, with more than 15,000 members. Their mission is to advance the science and practice of infection prevention and control.
As a member of the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Weber’s research focuses on the science and prevention of healthcare-associated infections. With a long-standing interest in new and emerging infectious diseases, especially zoonotic diseases, biothreat agents, and those capable of causing epidemics and pandemics, Dr. Weber is specifically interested in preparedness and response for these diseases, to mitigate the impact on healthcare facilities including infection prevention and occupational health preparedness.
