The ID Fellowship Program led by Christopher Sellers, MD, MPH, celebrated graduating fellows at the Atlas Bar in Carrboro. Joined by Joe Eron, MD, chief of the division of infectious diseases, Myron Cohen, MD, director of the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases, and many other infectious disease faculty, the fellows were presented graduation certificates.

Andy Kaplan UNC ID Fellow Achievement Award – Natalie Mackow, MD
Recognizes a UNC ID fellow who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research, service, or quality improvement during their training
Charlie van der Horst UNC ID Clinical Educator Award – Anne Lachiewicz, MD, MPH
Recognizes a faculty member who has made significant and exceptional contributions to ID clinical education for medical students, residents, or fellows
Ada Adimora UNC ID Career Mentor Award – Luther Bartelt, MD
Recognizes a faculty member for dedication and effectiveness in mentoring students (MD, Master, PhD) or residents or fellows in ID career endeavors.
Byrd Quinlivan UNC ID Fellow Outstanding Clinician Award – Thomas Holowka, MD, PhD
Recognizes a UNC ID fellow who has provided exceptional patient care during their training.
ID Graduates & Next Steps
- Dwayvania “Dee” Miller, MBBS: Will be staying at UNC for a third year, serving as the Chief Fellow for ID. She is also in the Prev Med Residency/completing her MPH.
- Bhavita Gaglani, MD: Will be going to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist University as Transplant ID and Critical Care Medicine Faculty
- Gregory Rothchild, DO: Practicing at Community Health Network in Indianapolis, IN
- Salma Gayed, MBBS: Will be going to Cambridge University NHS Trust, United Kingdom
- Kaylor Wright, MD: Will most likely be practicing in Salt Lake City, Utah
