The Office of Global Health Education is collecting gently used clothing for migrant/farm workers in Western North Carolina. In early June, a group of UNC Health students, residents, and faculty/staff will travel to Cullowhee, NC, to volunteer with Vecinos, an organization whose mission is to provide equitable culturally centered health care and wellness services with a focus on Latinx and farmworker communities.
“We want to take donations that will assist in the setting up of their new clinic and to aid the farm workers,” said Heidi White, assistant director of the Office of Global Health Education. “Please help us by donating any gently used clothing or accessories that the group can take with them.”
The UNC team will deliver gently used clothing or accessories, and the most needed items include: hats, bandanas, long-sleeved T-shirts and other sun protective clothing. A list of other needed items can be accessed here.
Collection boxes are available through May 12 at the following locations:
- Roper Hall – 3rd floor (beside the student commons)
- Rosenau – Entry hallway
