Chemtai Mungo, MD, MPH, FACOG, a member of the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases has been awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Career Development Award to support her research on the role of the vaginal microbiome in treatment outcomes following self-administered artesunate in the R34 trial she is conducting. Dr. Mungo previously received the ASCO Young Investigator Award in 2021, and this new accolade reaffirms ASCO’s commitment to investing in early career investigators tackling urgent challenges in global cancer prevention.

Dr. Mungo expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this recognition from ASCO, particularly given the highly competitive nature of the award process.
