School of Medicine Office of International Activities
In 2009 the IGHID collaborated with the Office of Medical Education to launch the Office of International Activities (OIA) in the medical school. OIA has grown into a robust office that provides critical support to medical students and resident physicians interested in global health. OIA provides comprehensive pre- and post-rotation support and education for medical students and residents. The office sponsors a “Foundations of Global Health” elective course for medical students. IGHID continues to play an important role in the planning and strategy of the OIA.
Gillings School of Global Public Health Office of Global Health
The Office of Global Health (OGH) is a hub for faculty and student global health activities at the public health school. OGH continues to implement and further the school’s global reach and partnerships. OGH is committed to supporting faculty involved in global health. OGH currently handles full administrative and marketing activities for twelve internship programs and sponsors a Global Health Certificate program.
Over the long term, the IGHID hopes to cultivate the development of similar international offices in the other three health affairs schools: dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing.
