Kitch value aside, this is a serious matter.  IGHID director Myron Cohen thinks we ought to remember the lessons we learned over 30 years ago. There are a number of excellent books on the subject. Cohen recommends The Swine Flu Affair: Decision-making on a Slippery Disease, by Richard Neustadt and Harvey Fineberg (Honolulu, HI: 2005).
